Uneasy Dreams

One morning, Greg Samsa doesn't come down for breakfast. He doesn't go to work. He doesn't come to the door. Something is still in his room. Something that breathes. Something that reaches under the door at night, feeling for a tray of food that stopped coming. Uneasy Dreams is a short film set in a 1985 American suburb, following a family managing an extraordinary situation the only way ordinary people know how — by not naming it. The Father goes to work, or pretends to. The Mother hums a song slightly off-key. Greta brings trays of food until a man with a muscle car tells her she doesn't have to anymore. The family holds a meeting. They talk about Greg getting back on his feet. Nobody says what is actually in the room at the end of the hallway. The Father goes to the hardware store.
